Jimmy The Otter

This is a tale about a young otter named Jimmy.  Jimmy wasn’t any ordinary otter, he was, well let’s just say Jimmy was a bit (a tiny bit) unusual. All of the other otters seemed a lot more normal compared to Jimmy. Well I guess by this point your wondering what Jimmy looks like so I guess I’ll tell you.

Jimmy was a river otter. He has quite a small head, and a small tail. He has rather short claws, and a round tail.

Anyway, I’m going to tell you his story…

Jimmy was a river otter and he LOVES the water, he would play in it all day if he could! But he was different to all the other otters. And that was his problem. He looked different, he played differently, he swam BRILLIANTLY!! But Jimmy was too scared to tell everyone that he was good at swimming so he kept it to himself since he thought that it would be boastful and make him look like a show off. So Jimmy kept his secret to himself.Image result for river otters swimming

Jimmy only had one friend, Jane. She was a river otter too! She was the best best best bestie EVER to Jimmy!! She was like a big sister for Jimmy. They usually had talks, mostly about Jimmy being sad about the other otters being mean to him. But one day Jane came up to Jimmy and said,

“Jimmy, you know how you are being bullied by all the other otters, well I think I’ve got a plan!” Jimmy was astonished! He had never had a plan before! He was so excited when he heard the good news so he immediately said,”YES.”

“So, I’ll explain. Jimmy, you will have to swim.”

“O-o-oh, w-well you see.. ummm, I’m well urrrmmm.”

“Jimmy! I know you’re good at this! You can do it!” Image result for river otters swimmingJimmy just went along with the idea since he knew that Jane would eventually make him go. So the next day Jimmy waddled over to shore where he was going to preform his trick. Everyone started at him apart from Jane who was cheering him on in the foreground. He was in the water now. Jimmy was terrified. He was preparing his best trick. 3…2…1…GO! Jimmy dived in and did his best forward roll he could do. There was a short silence. Then… they all laughed at him. Jimmy walked away, he was devastated.”JIMMY WAIT UP! COME BACK JIMMY! Please Jimmy, I need to tell you something!” Jane shouted.

“What is it?” Jimmy said in a grumpy voice.

” They loved your forward roll Jimmy!”

“YES!! They were laughing at me, now get back there and show off your skills!” So Jimmy with skip in his step walked back to the otters. He showed them all his tricks, they loved it! Jimmy felt a lot more at easy ; a huge weight had been lifted of his chest. He loved being surrounded by all of his new friends! They all accepted Jimmy for who he was.

I think that this is a very important lesson to learn ; you shouldn’t judge anyone at all, dont judge a book by it’s cover. We are all different, but that makes us well us !
